The most effective tool to prevent future service calls is proper setup and preventative maintenance.

Here are a few important DOs & DON'Ts:

DO review the User Guide.
DO confirm timing of machine on first pull out (See User Manual for instructions). This is a critical step at set up of an Ag-Rain machine.
DO pull gun cart out straight away from machine.
DO make a full pull occasionally to ensure correct timing of machine. (This can also correct machines that appear to be out of time from multiple partial pulls and loose tube.)
DO perform maintenance on all gas engines per their owner's manuals.
DO winterize your machine . . . simply empty all drain valves on metal parts. (Polyethylene Tube will not be damaged by freezing.)
DON'T pull gun cart out faster than 3 mph, DON'T stop suddenly, and DON'T tow machine faster than 12 mph
DON'T pull out gun cart without disengaging gearbox.
DON'T wind in using engine or PTO without tube under pressure unless absolutely necessary.

Check the following:

Ensure that speed compensator is adjusted properly.
With source shut off, check the turbine shaft to see if it spins freely.
If running on lower flows, make sure belt setting is on the small pulley on the turbine and large pulley on the gearbox.
Make sure the correct nozzle size is being use in the sprinkler.

Check to make sure that the gearbox is fully engaged and in gear.

Be sure the spool brake is adjusted properly so the spool does not coast when slowing down or stopping during tube pull out.
Sometimes if the machine has been operating on short runs, it will be necessary to pull all of the tube out and retract while tube is under pressure.
In some cases, the customer will retract the hose using the PTO option. Most times, they will do this without the machine being pressurized. When this is done: the tube will tend to become out of round or "egg shaped". This causes the tube to wrap incorrectly and look as though it is out of time. To fix this, pull the hose out and pressure up. Let the hose lay in the sun (pressurized) for at least a half hour. Retract the hose while still under pressure to return the hose to a round state.
Check to see if the level-wind chain and/or the guide link might be broken.

Check the following:

Wheels on gun cart may not be adjusted correctly.
The tube end into the gun cart may not be threaded in straight.
The tube was not pulled straight on pull out.
Adjust front and/or rear wheel alignment on gun cart. (See PDF below for photos.)
Remove hose end from gun cart and thread in straight and square to hose. (See PDF below for photos.)
Be sure to pull out gun cart in a straight path.
